Frequently Asked Questions
What is chronic pain?
Chronic pain is persistent pain, lasting beyond the first 3 months.
Why can chronic pain be so complicated
Pain is how our body processed nociception. Nociception is the internal awareness of bodily damage. If our body keeps sending our brain nociception signals even when we are not getting injured, our body processes this information as pain. This complex relationship between the mind and body is what can make chronic pain difficult to deal with and improve.
What can help with chronic pain?
One of the biggest improvements in chronic pain comes from exercise prescription. Knowing when, how, and what to do when experiencing chronic pain can help you get through your day as best as possible. At Made To Move, we give our chronic pain patients a strategic rehab plan including exercises for stretching, range of motion, endurance, posture, strength, and power so they know exactly what they can do at home for themselves. Independence and autonomy are important players when dealing with chronic pain.
Do you co-manage patients working through chronic pain?
Yes! For example, many chronic conditions can be improved or at least slowed down with the aid of medications and/or counselling. Our team loves working with other medical professionals so that our patients get a cohesive and diverse set of solutions to their issues.
